AcilioN and chawzyyy leave Apeks

Asger “AcilioN” Larsen and Hugo “chawzyyy” Günther are now free agents, Apeks announced on Twitter. The two players reached an agreement with the Norwegian organization to terminate their contracts.

Following the announcement, chawzyyy revealed his decision to take a break from professional play and focus on his studies, while AcilioN stated his intentions to compete, either in Europe or North America.

The two players were benched in late June, with the organization stating that the team’s “wrong composition of players” was the reason behind the roster change. Apeks peaked at the No.28 spot in the HLTV world rankings after a runners-up finish at Pinnacle Winter Series 1 and a win at the Tipsport Bratislava Cup.

However, the European squad was never able to reach the next level and failed to qualify for PGL Major RMR, BLAST Premier Spring Showdown, and IEM Dallas. chawzyyy and AcilioN were replaced in the lineup by Justinas “jL” Lekavicius and Richard “shox” Papillon in August, but their performances have not improved as the team failed to reach its goal of qualifying for the upcoming IEM Road to Rio 2022 RMR.

Apeks made the decision in late September to withdraw their main roster from all upcoming competitions, including ESEA Advanced Season 42, due to the series of poor performances from the new roster.

“As of today, my contract with Apeks has come to an end,” read chawzyyy‘s statement. “The experience has developed me as a player and person. I have decided to take a break from playing professionally to focus on school for now,” it continued.

“Even though we didn’t get the results we would’ve liked, I learned a lot during this time and I’m sure I can bring that to the next team,” added AcilioN on Twitter. “For now I’ll stream, but don’t hesitate to reach out. Open to offers in EU and NA.”
