AIS Network Named to List of 100 “Best Places to Work in Virginia”

Jay Atkinson is CEO of AIS Network.

In light of the troubling world economic situation over the last several years, continuing to build one of America’s fastest-growing companies and also making it a ‘best place to work’ for staff who are largely working remotely is a phenomenal achievement.

Virginia cybersecurity and IT provider AIS Network has been named to Virginia Business Magazine’s 2023 list of the “Best Places to Work in Virginia.”

“In light of the troubling world economic situation over the last several years, continuing to build one of America’s fastest-growing companies and also making it a ‘best place to work’ for staff who are largely working remotely is a phenomenal achievement,” said AISN CEO Jay Atkinson, who noted that AISN has been ranked for two consecutive years on the Inc. 5000 list of America’s fastest-growing companies.

“This is an honor for all AISN employees and a testament to their ‘super power’ — working remotely over the years. Despite the pandemic, our team has labored hard to foster an environment in which all of our employees can thrive and create value each and every day for our clients.”

Virginia Business Magazine’s annual, statewide survey and awards program conducted with the Best Companies Group identifies, recognizes and honors the best 100 places of employment in Virginia, benefiting the economy, workforce and businesses in Virginia. Rankings of the 100 “Best Places to Work in Virginia” will be announced in February at a luncheon in Charlottesville, Va.

Headquartered in Richmond with employees scattered across the state, AISN employs staff across the commonwealth, intentionally keeping jobs and tax dollars in Virginia. Over the last decade, while under the ownership of CEO Jay Atkinson, the small business has rapidly emerged as a leader in IT modernization, including managed services for cybersecurity, cloud, enterprise architecture, award-winning application development and program management. Clients range from Fortune 500 clients and multi-billion-dollar government agencies to organizations spanning multiple industries, including government, education, health care, manufacturing and financial services.

Companies across Virginia entered the two-part “Best Places to Work in Virginia” survey process. For eligibility, candidates were required to:

  • Be a for-profit, not-for-profit business or government entity.
  • Be a publicly or privately held business.
  • Have a facility in the state of Virginia.
  • Have at least 15 employees working in the state of Virginia; and
  • Be in business for a minimum of 1 year.

Selection was based on an evaluation of company workplace policies, practices, philosophy, systems and demographics. The second part of the evaluation, worth 75 percent of the score, consisted of an employee survey to measure employee experience. The combined scores determined the top companies and rankings. Best Companies Group, an independent surveyor, managed the survey process, analyzing the data and utilizing their expertise to select the winning “Best Places to Work” in Virginia.
