Ann Cox, QIS (Quantum Information Science) Technical Lead, Science and Technology Directorate (S&T)Department of Homeland Security,  will speak on Panel:  Oct. 27 – Special Talk: Quantum Safe at the Department of Homeland Security at IQT Quantum Cybersecurity in NYC October 25-27.
Dr. Ann Cox is a Technical Program Manager and Quantum Information Science Technical Lead in the Technology Centers Division of the Office of Science and Engineering within the Science and Technology Directorate (S&T) of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). She is a science advisor to the department for Quantum Information Science related Dr. Ann Cox’s previous work at DHS included Program Management in the Cyber Security Division at DHS S&T. As a cyber security program manager, Dr. Cox managed more than fifty projects focused on various aspects of cyber security, including Distributed Denial of Service Defense, Voice Security for public safety applications, software assurance, and network security.
Prior to her work at DHS, Dr. Cox spent sixteen years at the National Security Agency (NSA) where she worked in the office of Weapons and Space before returning to research, focusing on network measurement projects. She provided leadership and technical direction for projects involving coordination with domestic and international technical experts from multiple government agencies, academic institutions, and private companies. Before coming to NSA Dr. Cox taught full-time at Brigham Young University (BYU) for several years and was the owner and purchasing agent for a small business. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from BYU, Master’s degree in Mathematics from Idaho State University, Master’s degree in Computer Science from James Madison University, and her Ph.D. in Mathematics from Auburn University. Dr. Cox is the mother of six and grandmother of thirteen.
