Binance, the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange by trading volume, is set to participate in the ManilART’22 of the  National Art Fair. The event will have the theme, “Forging Futures” —happening this upcoming October 19 to 23 at the SMX Convention Center, SM Aura, Taguig City.

The participation of the exchange will feature educational talks during the art fair which aims to promote and expand digital literacy to Filipinos.

Their lectures will welcome and provide crypto insights––which include talks about crypto, blockchain, and the metaverse—to everyone—newbies and veterans alike.

The crypto exchange giant also noted that learning more about non-fungible tokens (NFTs) will open up a new realm of creation, trading, and supporting artistic works.

Recently, Binance’s Asia Pacific Region (APAC) HeadLeon Foong and General Manager for the Philippines Kenneth Stern participated in the session of the Senate’s Committee on Banks, Financial Institutions, and Currencies. They both pledged to help the country’s universities offer courses and professional certificates in blockchain, crypto, and web3. (Read more: Binance Participates in Senate Hearing)

Aside from the involvement of Binance, the event will also highlight and feature the debut of the “phygital” on the ManilART’s stage which aims to bridge the gap between digital and traditional spaces. Phygital arts are NFTs in the form of extensions or digital prints of the physical art piece.

Now in its 14th year, ManilART stated that its focus will still be on the future for the next few years. In 2021, the art fair first launched the integration of new technologies alongside traditional media, where the exhibit was made accessible for online patrons through 360-degree digital walkthroughs as well as augmented-reality copies of artworks.

For this year, the participating exhibitors are 371 Art Space, AC 388, Annual Sculpture Review, Art For Space, Artes Orientes, AT Art Gallery, Dry Brush, Espacio Manila, Galerie Artes, Galerie Du Soleil, Galerie Francesca, Galerie Raphael, Galleria Nicolas, G9 Online, Gallery Nine, Historia Arts, M Gallery MNL, Museo de Pacis, Philippine Art Nation, Pugad ni Art, Renaissance Gallery, The Artologist, Village Art Gallery, and Ysobel Art Gallery.

The influence of blockchain is not only prominent in the Philippines but also in other countries. Last August 26, Binance announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the City of Busan, South Korea to aid the city in creating infrastructures and provide the technology to develop its own blockchain ecosystem.
