CS:GO community reacts to FaZe’s elimination from Rio

FaZe came into the IEM Rio Major as the reigning champions and regarded as one of the favorites. They qualified directly for the Legends Stage of the competition thanks to their success at the Regional Major Ranking tournament and had their sights set on defending their crown.

FaZe bombed out of the Legends Stage with a 0-3 record

Things didn’t quite go the way of Finn “karrigan” Andersen‘s men, however, as FaZe dropped their first two matches before a 1-2 defeat to Bad News Eagles ultimately sealed their fate and knocked them out from the Major with a 0-3 record. Their shock elimination marked the first time since Envy at MLG Columbus 2016 that the defending Major champions exited the competition without a single victory.

Let’s check in on how social media reacted to the thrilling best-of-three which resulted in triumph for Bad News Eagles and despair for FaZe:

Others went more into detail with regards to FaZe‘s loss, with Jonatan “Devilwalk” Lundberg even explaining that the international side’s elimination wasn’t solely due to them performing poorly but also a result of other teams’ strong form.

Though many headlines were centered on FaZe‘s loss, other members of the community gave much-deserved praise to Bad News Eagles for eliminating the international powerhouse. As Jacob “Pimp” Winneche himself said, one of the biggest underdog stories in the game’s history just unfolded with their victory over FaZe.

And of course, some even grabbed the opportunity to share their sense of humor to the world, including other teams’ social media accounts.
