First In Adds Arthur Karell to its Investment Team as Partner

Today, First In™ announced the investment team’s expansion to include Arthur Karell as a Partner. The firm closed its first fund in March 2022 and now manages over $55 million in total capital. The entrepreneurs leading First In’s portfolio companies are driving innovation at the forefront of cybersecurity, data intelligence, data management and automation, and defense technology.

Arthur Karell has spent the past decade in leadership roles at high-growth technology companies, specifically data intelligence, defense technology, and digital asset companies. He was an early executive of FiscalNote (NYSE: NOTE) and led operations, corporate development, and legal for the company as it scaled from a pre-revenue startup to over $75 million in annual revenue. He initiated corporate development at Anduril Industries and led over $425 million in acquisitions for the defense technology company in less than two years. Arthur has served as a venture partner at First In since 2020 and sourced several successful investments for the firm. As a Partner, he will focus on First In’s core investment themes of digital security and data intelligence with a special focus on artificial intelligence, defense technology, distributed computing, and web3’s impact on identity and encryption. Earlier in his career, Arthur served as an attorney in private practice and as a Marine Corps infantry officer. He holds a JD from the University of Virginia School of Law and an AB from Harvard University.
