Google Wallet Lands in Vietnam, Thailand and Malaysia

Google Wallet has now been extended to three additional Southeast Asian countries – Vietnam, Thailand and Malaysia – making it available in 57 countries total.

In Vietnam, the feature is currently only supported for Visa cardholders while Mastercard will be integrated into the wallet in the coming weeks.

Banks offering this feature are ACB, Sacombank, Shinhan Bank, TP Bank, Techcombank, Vietcombank and VPBank although not all banks support this feature for both their credit and debit cards.

Meanwhile, in Thailand, Bangkok Bank and Krungthai Card has enabled Google wallet for both Mastercard and Visa cardholders.

Malaysian banks supporting the digital wallet include CIMB, Hong Leong Bank (HLB), Hong Leong Islamic Bank (HLISB), Public Bank, HSBC, and HSBC Amanah.

To get started, customers can download Google Wallet on the Google Play Store and add in their information to get started.

Once it has been set up, customers can pay in stores that accept contactless payments via Google Pay with just one tap using their smartphone or Wear OS device.

Currently, Google Pixel Watch, Fitbit Sense 2 and Versa 4 also supports the Google wallet now for quick and secure payments.

Google has also partnered with many companies including Thailand’s Thaiticketmajor to enable users to save mobile tickets for events and shows.

Users can also access their access boarding passes from airlines like AirAsia, Air France, China Air, Ryanair and United Airlines through their Google Wallet. They can also save multiple boarding passes when traveling with family or friends.
