Horizon Worlds Spotlight: Mellow Mountains

Welcome back to our weekly spotlight on the people building for Horizon Worlds and their amazing creations.

Last week, we spent some time talking to hyperjoule, a life-long technophile and current full-stack software engineer who’s created numerous worlds including the roller derby-loving Hyperdrome Rollerama and fun casual game Butterfly Battle Royale.

This week, we slow it way, way down and head to RexRod’s bucolic Mellow Mountains, a place where you can forget the chaos of everyday life and just take in the glory of nature.

For many of us, life moves at breakneck speed. We rush from place to place, get frustrated when we’re stuck in traffic, run late to appointments, and then do it all again the next day. For a brief moment during the early days of the pandemic, we got a sense of the world returning to a slower pace. But it didn’t last, and now those empty freeways of 2020 are clogged once again. That can leave us yearning for peace and quiet—and that’s just what you’ll find in Mellow Mountains.

Close your eyes, and all you’ll hear are birds chirping and the bubbling of a river. Off in the distance, you’ll see picture-perfect alpine peaks, bright green trees (and a stunning pink cherry blossom), and the bluest of skies.

Off in front of you is home—a lovely little A-frame hut. Climb up the front stairs and you can plop down on the swinging bench or listen to some soft tunes. Inside, there’s a picturesque view of the mountains and the river in either direction.

Mellow Mountains is the perfect place to just get away. You could bring a friend for some low-key conversation, but maybe you want to come by yourself and forget real life for a little while. Either way, we have no doubt that after spending time at Mellow Mountains, you’ll be ready to tackle the chaos again—especially since you’ll know right where to go the next time you need to recharge your batteries.
