Ledger & MetaMask Strengthen Partnership: Ledger Nano X Soon Compatible with MetaMask Mobile App

Ledger and MetaMask have been partners for quite some time.

Our collaboration began in 2018 with the integration of the two wallets. Then in 2021, this partnership was reinforced during a breaking update in Chromium-based browsers that caused issues connecting Ledger Nano with MetaMask wallet. Many users within the Web3 community were impacted, experiencing difficulties when interacting with the two products. 

Guided by customer feedback, we’ve committed teams on both sides to fix the issue and build a deeper and more powerful integration between our products. 

The fix was rolled out, and the two wallets now work seamlessly.

But our collaboration didn’t end there. We decided to continue the partnership and keep improving ease of use and security for our shared customers.

Today, Ledger and MetaMask are taking even bigger steps to drive fundamental improvements for the customers who use our products. We have a brand new, highly anticipated feature waiting for you.

Seamlessly connect Ledger Nano X with the MetaMask mobile app

MetaMask is available as a browser extension and as a mobile app. But until now, only the desktop browser extension was compatible with Ledger Nano wallets.

Over the past few months, Ledger and MetaMask teams joined forces again to integrate Ledger Nano X with MetaMask mobile app, combining Ledger’s security and full ownership with the simplicity of MetaMask.

You will soon be able to connect your Ledger Nano X with the MetaMask app via Bluetooth and import your Ledger Live accounts. Every transaction you carry out with MetaMask has to be approved with your Ledger Nano X. The hardware wallets keep private keys offline and protected at all times.
Please note that Ledger Nano S Plus isn’t compatible with the MetaMask mobile app, since this feature requires a Bluetooth connection.
