[LOW COST] Crypto Unicorns to Start Play-to-Airdrop Campaign After Migration to XAI | BitPinas

Months after announcing their plans, the web3 game Crypto Unicorns began migrating from Polygon to XAI Network, a layer-3 blockchain platform designed for AAA gaming that leverages Arbitrum Technology, on May 28, 2024.

After the migration is completed, the game confirmed they will host Season 1 of the game’s play-to-airdrop campaign.

Crypto Unicorns Introduction

Launched by Laguna Games, Crypto Unicorns (https://www.cryptounicorns.fun/) started as a collection of 10,000 NFTs in the form of eggs that could be hatched into the first generation of unicorns.

The first generation of unicorns is then bred to produce the next generations. Besides collecting these digital creatures, Laguna Games also allowed NFT owners to access farming gameplay to earn more items—the game we know today.

“As game developers, we are excited to move away from the extractive nature of Free-2-Play to foster and nurture community-run game economies. Crypto Unicorns is our first digital nation and we are extremely excited to build it in tandem with our player community,” the developers wrote.

Crypto Unicorns is a web3-centered farming simulation game. Players can purchase Land NFTs to start creating and designing their own farms.

They can then use their unicorns to gather, craft, harvest, and complete quests within the farm. Besides these tasks, unicorns can also be bred and can battle other unicorns or visit other farms in events called jousting. The reward for winning in a head-to-head match against other unicorns is $CU, while the token needed for breeding is $UNIM.

There are also other mini-games within the Crypto Unicorns ecosystem, including:

Shadowcorns: Faction warfare on-chain with leaderboards for Unicorns and Shadowcorns that battle.

Rainbow Rumble: Skill-based obstacle courses where Unicorns race to the finish for prizes.

Unicorn Party: Hypercasual games on iOS and Android with real-money wagers. Players can download this minigame on the Apple App Store, Google Play Store, or as an Android APK.

The NFTs in the Crypto Unicorns ecosystem are the unicorns and the lands. They can only be purchased on secondary marketplaces like OpenSea and the game’s soon-to-launch own marketplace, Rainbow.

Other Crypto Unicorns Features

Tribes: The game’s first-ever in-game social feature where players can collaborate to progress both as a group and as individuals, and in the future, compete with other tribes. By joining a tribe, players can work together to upgrade tribe buildings, craft Gems to enhance unicorn stats over time, and compete with other tribes on the tribe’s leaderboards.

Gemworks: A feature that allows players to permanently improve unicorns’ stats by equipping them with Gems. This is considered a key activity for players to make vertical progression with their existing unicorns. To create Gems, players must first earn pages by playing the core game. Pages will be earned through Giftboxes and rare/mythic pages can be crafted in the workshop. Once pages are obtained, they can head over to the Gemworks building in their tribe, craft them into a Codex, and finally use the Codex to create a Gem that can be sold or equipped.

Lastly, Crypto Unicorns players can also stake $CU and $CULP at https://www.cryptounicorns.fun/staking/overview. Stakers can obtain $CULP by adding liquidity to the $CU/$ETH liquidity pool on the native staking portal.

The campaign starts with the Pre-Season, which will last until June 21, 2024. It will follow a points system. To obtain points, participants must:

• Hatch A Genesis Unicorn
• Hatch A Shadowcorn Egg
• Participate In Land Sale
• Breed A Unicorn
• Evolve A Baby
• Hold A Badge
• Hold A Shadowcorn
• Stake $CULP

To obtain points, the tasks in the pre-season are in-game quests. During the migration, the whole ecosystem is down, so pre-season is only for those who played before the migration.

“Part of our thesis around sustainable gaming economies revolves around rewarding players who are the most active and strategic in the ecosystem. In combination with this, we also value community members who hang on to most of their assets over the long term,” the team highlighted.

This means that those who want to join Crypto Unicorn’s play-to-airdrop campaign can join in Season 1, which will start immediately after the migration is completed.

As of this writing, the tasks for Season 1 are still unannounced. However, the team hinted at how to be eligible to join the campaign:
