Maya users can now pay easily and hassle-free by just scanning the quick response (QR) codes of their banks, whether it’s AUB, Metrobank, Unionbank, or e-wallet GCash.

Maya users need to look for the QR code that has the Ph logo featuring the blue, red, and yellow design in the middle of the code. The same with other financial apps that honor the QR PH can also scan their own Maya QR code to make transactions.

“You can now use your Maya app to scan to pay AUB, GCash, Metrobank, and Unionbank QR codes at your favorite stores – making your payments easy and hassle-free. Similarly, the Maya QR is ready to be scanned by these different financial apps as soon as these apps make the feature available,” Maya’s statement read.

This could be convenient for Filipinos that are at home and those that do not bring bulky coin purses when they go out. Since the pandemic, Filipinos have been making online purchases which led to an increase between 2020 and 2021 in digital or online payments.

The Banko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) launched the QR PH back in 2021 as the national standard for QR payments. Due to the pandemic, there was a significant increase in digital or online transactions that led to the push for having a national standard for QR codes. The BSP envisioned the country’s being ideally a coinless society by 2025. “Maya is the first fintech in the Philippines to adopt the QR PH national standard for person-to-person payments in November 2019 and for person-to-merchant payments in April 2021. As the leader in QR PH adoption, Maya fully supports the BSP thrust for interoperable payments, including QR PH, making convenient cashless payments more accessible to Filipinos,” Maya added.

Maya launched the 9.9 Sale campaign. Customers may receive a rebate in Bitcoin of 1%, 10%, or 100% of every purchase made online or by scanning the QR code of the merchant and may have a chance to win the grand prize of ₱1 million. This campaign does have a monthly cap of ₱500. This campaign is good until the end of September.

Recently, Maya has announced the addition of four cryptocurrencies that will be available this month. The four cryptocurrencies are The Sandbox (SAND), Decentraland (MANA), Axie Infinity (AXS), and Cosmos (ATOM). With this addition, Maya is currently catering to nineteen cryptocurrencies.
