Meta Confirms Next Quest VR Headset Coming 2023

The device will supposedly cost somewhere between $300 and $500.

The dust hasn’t even settled from the launch of the powerful Quest Pro, Meta’s $1,500 enterprise-focused VR headset and Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has already confirmed that we are getting another headset next year!

In an interview with Stratechery’s Ben Thompson, Zuckerberg talked about the company and their goals for the future. During that conversation, Zuckerberg dropped some details on the Quest 3, confirming that the VR headset will cost “in the range of $300, $400, or $500.” During its recent Q3 2022 earnings call, Meta confirmed that the headset will be available sometime in 2023.

The Quest 2 launched back in October 2020 and quickly became popular with VR enthusiasts, gamers, and companies looking to use VR technology for training and collaboration.

Meta announced a $100 price bump for the Quest 2 in 2022, saying, “The cost to make and ship our products have been on the rise. By adjusting the price, we can continue to grow our investment in groundbreaking research and new product development that pushes the VR industry to new heights.”

During Meta’s recent Connect event, the company revealed the Quest Pro, the first in a new line of “high-end” devices. Meanwhile, Meta’s Reality Labs division has been busy creating multiple prototypes of VR headsets, each with unique code names like Butterscotch, Starburst, and Holocake. Somewhere in that mix is Quest 3.

But here’s the really interesting part: YouTuber SadlyItsBradly uncovered all of this news weeks ago. In a video that was recorded two weeks before Meta Connect, Brad talked about the Quest 3 (supposedly codenamed Stintson), and even included CAD models and details of the headset.

In a Resetera thread, a user by the name of Wollan broke down SadylItsBradley’s Quest 3 video and pulled away some interesting information.

Keep in mind that this info is based on a dissection of a CAD model and not a hands-on or any type of official fact sheet from Meta, but SadlyItsBradly is usually spot on with his information.

What we do know is that the Meta Quest 3 headset will launch sometime in 2023.
