‘Peaky Blinders: The King’s Ransom’ Will Launch March 9 on Meta Quest 2

Peaky Blinders has won critical acclaim—along with a number of BAFTAs—since its 2013 BBC debut. And soon, fans will be able to step inside the world of post-World War I Birmingham, England like never before. Developer Maze Theory just announced that Peaky Blinders: The King’s Ransom will launch March 9, 2023, on Meta Quest 2. Check out the new cinematic trailer, which premiered last night at the 40th Golden Joystick Awards.

For the uninitiated, Peaky Blinders: The King’s Ransom is the award-winning TV series’ first-ever venture into the world of VR, naturally starring the tenacious vocal talents of Cillian Murphy as gang leader Tommy Shelby and Paul Anderson as his volatile brother Arthur. Set in the lawless streets of 1920s Birmingham, fans will quickly recognize life on the streets of Peaky Blinders—streets that are laden with both risk and reward in equal measure.

“It’s almost time for Peaky Blinders fans around the world to step back in time 100 years and team up with the Shelbys,” says Tim Jones, Game Director at Maze Theory. “Peaky Blinders: The King’s Ransom will allow players to explore the mean streets of 1920s Birmingham in an authentic virtual reality experience inspired by the hit TV drama series. We can’t wait to let Tommy loose this March!”

Here’s what fans can expect at launch:

• Immersive World: Explore iconic locations from the show, including The Garrison pub, Charlie’s Yard, and Shelby’s Betting Shop.
• Believable Characters: Interact with iconic characters as you uncover allegiances and confront your enemies.
• Intense Action: Life in Small Heath is full of opportunity—and risk. Immerse yourself in dramatic action as you take down rivals and move up in the world.
• Epic Crime Drama: On the run from the firing squad, you turn to the infamous Tommy Shelby for help and soon find yourself at war once again. Your only hope of redemption is to defeat the odds and win at any cost… by order of the Peaky Blinders.

Built in Unity, Peaky Blinders: The King’s Ransom is an original story written in collaboration with Peaky Blinders’ producer and brand owner Caryn Mandabach Productions and series creator and writer Steven Knight. The game is created in partnership with distributor Banijay and will launch on Meta Quest 2 on March 9 for $29.99 USD.
