SwissCham Seeks a Stronger Fintech Presence in Singapore

The Swiss Chamber of Commerce and Industry Singapore (SwissCham) hopes to deliver a stronger presence in Singapore and has developed a four-pronged strategy to achieve this goal.

The strategy aims to provide more platforms for knowledge transfer and networking, supported by SwissCham’s sub-committees for climate tech, digital transformation, hospitality, and international relations.

SwissCham was a key participant under the Swiss Pavilion at the recent Singapore Fintech Festival 2022, during which Swiss blockchain infrastructure startup FQX won at the Global Fintech Hackcelerator.

SwissCham currently comprises 200 companies which collectively account for 25,000 jobs in Singapore, including increasing presence from Swiss fintech companies in recent years.

Globally, Switzerland was recently named the most innovative country in the world in the Global Innovation Index 2022 published by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).

Switzerland was also one of the first countries in the world to deliver advanced regulatory solutions for fintech and blockchain, such as its Distributed Ledger Technology Act which came into force in 2021.

“The Swiss Chamber of Commerce and Industry is eager to foster and recognise innovation in the business communities and sectors that we work in and this drives us.

A key undercurrent is the understanding that innovation is a key focus of Swiss businesses, in fact, innovation is in the DNA of Switzerland,”

said Georg von Wattenwyl, Chairman of SwissCham.
