World’s Top Fintech Events Overlapping in November

The end of October and beginning of November 2022 will be busy weeks for the fintech community with multiple events scheduled during the two-week period. Several of these events will be taking place at the same time and at different locations around the world, putting some of the world’s most highly anticipated fintech events and conferences competing against one another for attention and attendance.

This overlapping involves at least eight fintech gatherings, among which large-scale events, like the annual Singapore Fintech Festival (SFF) and the Hong Kong Fintech Week, and gives the sense that organizers are overcompensating for the year-long restrictions brought about by COVID-19 by cramping up events left and right.

This week the Money20/20 USA’s 2022 edition was taking place from October 23 to 26, in Las Vegas, focusing on stories told through four distinct lenses – vulnerability, defense and offense, chain reactions, and experiences – and featuring 300+ speakers and moderators from a broad cross-section of companies, ranging from established fintech, banking, payments, and tech titans to scrappy startups.

Just a few days after, the annual Hong Kong Fintech Week will take place at the Hong Kong AsiaWorld-Expo in the city, promising one of the biggest industry events globally with thousands of founders, CEOs, investors, and other seasoned executives. Hong Kong Fintech Week 2022, however, will be held as a hybrid event, allowing those who cannot attend in-person to join online.

Overlapping Hong Kong Fintech Week 2022 are at least six events. Web Summit, one of the world’s largest tech events, is coming back this year from November 01 to 04, in Lisbon, Portugal. The event (fully sold out) will feature 23 tracks, including the in-famous MoneyConf, and will be attended by the world’s leading banks, tech firms and fintech startups. To get a sense of the scale and prominence of Web Summit, last year’s edition brought together 42,000+ people.

At the same time, the 12^th Nextgen Payments and Regtech Forum will take place on November 02 and 03, 2022 in Limassol, Cyprus, promising an elite gathering of global key influencers, innovators, strategists and thought leaders in the payments and the regulatory space to explore how organizations are modernizing and optimizing operations by adopting the latest technologies.

At the Deutsche Telekom AG Capital Representative Office in Berlin, Germany, FintechWorld22 will be held on November 02 and 03 as well. The startup competition will feature pitches from promising fintech companies in 13 key themes including: financing, investment, payments, personal financial management, proptech, insurtech, cryptocurrency, neobanks, regtech and open banking. A jury of experts will select the winner in each theme and on the second day of the event, the 13 finalists will get to present their solution on the main stage for all visitors and participants.

In the Middle East, Seamless Saudi Arabia will occurred from November 02 to 04, 2022, in Riyadh. The two-day gathering, which is set to be attended by more than 5,000 people, promises to be Saudi Arabia’s biggest and boldest event covering the latest innovations in payments, fintech, retail and e-commerce. Seamless Saudi Arabia 2022 will, thankfully, be held as a hybrid event.

Back in Asia, the annual SFF event will take place from November 02 and 04, featuring a week-long fintech festival with curated, interactive sessions and networking opportunities. SFF is perhaps the largest annual fintech event in the world that’s attended by leading tech innovators, policymakers and government officials to discuss emerging tech trends as well as issues arising from the industry.

This year’s SFF will be articulated around the theme Building Resilient Business Models amid Volatility and Change, and like previous years, will include a showcase of the 2022 winners of the SFF Global Fintech Awards, and networking sessions including an Investors Summit.

Finally, on the African continent, the Africa Fintech Summit (AFTS) in Cape Town will bring together fintech entrepreneurs, investors, regulators, and everyone in between to solve the biggest financial issues.

On November 03 and 04, 2022, AFTSCapeTown will take place at the Cape Town International Convention Centre and will feature an exhibition, panel conversations, as well as the renowned AlphaExpo, a three-day intensive bootcamp for early-stage startups. Selected startups will get to attend, exhibit, and pitch on stage at AFTS in addition to participating in catered workshops hosted by AFTS partners.

AFTS is a biannual fintech event that aims to bring the issues and opportunities revolutionizing finance in Africa to the world’s stage. AFTS takes place in Washington, DC, every April during the spring meetings of the World Bank Group, and every November in a different African city.
