CNN, New York Times, FT, the Guardian, Reddit too and countless of other media sites are down today with the error message above.

The culprit appears to be Fastly, an edge computing cloud provider used by almost all corporate media due to claiming it provides the highest speed even for uncached content.

The website of Fastly itself is currently down with the same error, with it unclear currently just what happened.

Update: About thirty minutes after global media and services like Shopify went down, some sites now seem to be coming up, although not consistently. They’re probably changing the DNS to turn off the CDN or Fastly has sorted out the problem. Fastly later said:

“We identified a service configuration that triggered disruptions across our POPs globally and have disabled that configuration. Our global network is coming back online.”
