Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies hardware wallet maker Ledger recently announced the successful completion of its fundraising.

The $380 million series C investment round was led by cryptocurrency-focused investment fund 10T Holdings. The company’s Chief Executive Officer is reportedly joining the Ledger board.

With the successful fundraising event, Ledger has been conferred with the status of a “unicorn” startup, having an implied valuation of $1.5 billion.

A notable transition

“This Series C announcement marks the transition of Ledger from the leading digital asset security company to becoming the secure gateway to the entire digital asset ecosystem,” said Ledger chief executive Pascal Gauthier in describing the implications of the productive fundraising.

He added the industry is fast becoming mainstream and it is reshaping the entire financial sector and beyond.

The Ledger big boss also claimed they are in a very good position to become a safe entry point into the digital asset world, having the potential to combine their services into nearly all of the features of the digital asset ecosystem.

The company has also announced more than 3 million hardware wallets sold in 190 countries, enabling them to secure an estimated 15% of all cryptocurrency assets worldwide. With this success, Ledger is planning an expansion to have its services cover more facets of the entire cryptocurrency ecosystem.

Behind the successful fundraising

10T Holdings wasn’t the only entity that made the investment round a rousing success. There were joined by a number of companies such as Draper Associates, Tekne Capital, Uphold Ventures, Rosemoor Capital, Libertus Capital II and Felix Capital, among other investors.

The Paris-based Ledger, founded in 2014, previously raised $8.3 million in its Series A fundraising event back in March 2017 while last January 2018, the series B investment round was able to haul $75 million.
