New headset owners can pick up a copy of Beat Sabre free for a limited time.

Beginning August 1st, the price of all Meta Quest 2 headsets will increase by $100. The 128GB model will be available for purchase at $399.99 and the 256GB model for $499.99.

According to Meta, one of the primary reasons for the price increase is rising production and shipping costs. The Meta Quest blog talked more about investing for the “long term.”

To help soften the blow, Meta is offering a free copy of Beat Sabre to anyone who purchases a Meta Quest 2 VR headset from August 1st through December 31st, 2022. The device must be activated before January 31, 2023, using an account that does not already own the game.

Even with this unexpected price increase, the Meta Quest 2 remains one of the most affordable all-in-one VR headsets currently available. The company plans on launching its next headset, codenamed Projekt Cambria, later this year, followed by new generations of the Meta Quest.
