Sony hỏi người dùng PlayStation về NFT

Chia sẻ một số tình yêu của Bitpinas:

Video game console PlayStation, developed by Sony Computer Entertainment, has asked its users about their interests in non-fungible tokens (NFTs) during the fighting game tournament Evo, which took place between August Five to Seven this year.

The survey displayed the question: “Which of the following NFT/Digital Collectibles would you most be interested in purchasing?”

And has the choices:

  • Thương hiệu Evo
  • Nghệ sĩ âm nhạc yêu thích
  • Người chơi / đội Esports yêu thích
  • PlayStation items
  • Nhân vật trò chơi yêu thích

The said survey was shared by Twitter user Snorlax Ownz, tweeting that “a special PlayStation quest at EVO is asking players about what gaming NFTs they want to see from PlayStation.”

Just last month, Sony already introduced PlayStation Stars, a loyalty program that gives rewards to its users. The rewards can be used to acquire digital treasures like figurines of its iconic characters.

However, according to Sony, since it is not using blockchain technology, these digital treasures cannot be considered NFTs.

It is seconded by Daniel Ahmad, an analyst at Niko Partners, stressing that “digital collectibles is just a term that is used interchangeably with NFTs.”

Ahmad also explained that the points that will be gained by the users in answering the survey have nothing to do with the PlayStation Stars.

This is not the first time a traditional game or game developer has hinted at entering the Metaverse.

Earlier this month, Korean gaming company Gravity partnered with The Sandbox, a virtual world developer, to bring the popular MMORPG game Ragnarok vào chuỗi khối.

While Krafton, the South Korean gaming giant and developer of popular video game PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG), is set to venture into crypto by partnering with blockchain startup Solana Labs to develop blockchain games.

Meanwhile, Japanese video game company Square Enix—known for developing games like Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts and Dragon Quest—announced that it signed a share transfer agreement with Sweden-based company, and sold some of its overseas studios and Intellectual Properties (IPs). The transaction will help fund the video game company’s plan in investing in fields including blockchain, AI, and the cloud.

While on the other hand, Mojang Studios, the developer of the widely-played world-building game Minecraft, said that there is no space in their game for Blockchain technologies and NFTs.
