Apple has released a Safari security update to address vulnerabilities which could allow an attacker to execute arbitrary code or cause an unexpected application termination. This occurs because the Webkit component contains multiple memory corruption issues These issues were addressed through improved memory handling.

This is the second Safari security update in only 6 weeks. In the past, Apple has gone as long as 3 months without a Safari Security update. This may signal a greater attention to security issues by Apple.

There has been a long standing assumption that the Apple OS and Safari browser are safer the Windows platforms because hackers have focused on the larger target, with Windows operating 90% of all desktops. However, that may changes as Apple mobile devices with Safari proliferate and hackers become increasingly familiar with Apple platforms.
