BitBoy Crypto sues YouTube Atozy for defamation over claims that BitBoy Crypto, who is also a YouTuber, was involved in the all too rampant crypto shilling that is happening in the industry.

Two popular YouTube content creators are preparing to go to court over a bitcoin video reportedly advertising a project that turned out to be a hoax.

Ben Armstrong’s YouTube channel Bitboy Crypto delivers a range of material centered on cryptocurrency news, projects and tokens, and trading tips. The channel has over 1.4 million subscribers and has been operating since February 2018.

The channel is noted for its news and trading-focused videos, with titles like as ‘Top 3 Coins To Outperform Ethereum! (Strong Short Term Play)’ typifying the sort of material sent to users.

While these videos pretend to provide trading advice, the channel’s disclaimer states unequivocally that Armstrong is not a professional adviser in business areas involving finance, cryptocurrencies, taxation, securities and commodities trading, or the practice of law. According to the channel’s programming, it is only for general information purposes.

Bitboy Crypto has previously faced backlash from the cryptocurrency community for allegedly deceiving viewers about numerous currencies and projects. Armstrong has sought to refute these accusations, with a furious podcast talk conducted by cryptocurrency investor Anthony Pompliano in November 2021 being a notable example.

Armstrong is pursuing legal action after an incident involving comments made by another YouTuber on a BitBoy video from 2020. Erling Mengshoel Jr, better known as Atozy on YouTube, discovered a now-deleted video on the Bitboy channel touting a project called Pamp network token in 2020.

The initiative ended on a bad note, with investors left empty-handed following a claimed ‘rug-pull’ by the creators. PAMP tokens are worth fractions of a dollar, according to Coingecko statistics, down from all-time highs of $2.73 in July 2020.

Following the PAMP collapse, Atozy returned to the Bitboy video and posted comments denouncing Armstrong as “shady” for deceiving viewers. In November 2021, Atozy posted a complete video on his channel titled ‘This YouTuber scams his fans… Bitboy Crypto,’ accusing Armstrong of being dishonest as a self-proclaimed expert on cryptocurrency in order to promote a business that failed.

On August 12, Armstrong formally filed a federal case against Mengshoel in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia, Atlanta, alleging defamation, infliction of mental distress, and tortious interference with commercial contacts or future business relations.

Mengshoel was ultimately served at his house a few days later, and he has requested the help of viewers and the bitcoin community in dealing with Armstrong’s ‘frivolous’ action.

BitBoy Crypto sues YouTube Atozy for defamation, and so Mengshoel has launched a GoFundMe account in order to meet this lawsuit head-on.
