• Blockstream claims that the sender of these emails is attempting to pose as the firm.
  • Users should not open any questionable emails purporting to be from Blockstream.

Users of the renowned non-custodial crypto wallet Jade, developed by the leading Bitcoin development firm Blockstream, have fallen victim to an assault in which they have been sent phishing emails. The Jade hardware wallet has been exploited, according to fraud warning letters that have been sent out to customers today, and Blockstream has released an emergency firmware patch.

Users were instructed to click a red button in the mail to immediately begin the software update. However, investigation revealed that Blockstream was clean of any involvement.

Blockstream’s Mail System Not Compromised

Blockstream claims that the sender of these emails is attempting to pose as the firm in a post made on twitter. Since the phishing emails originated from a separate domain, the hacker has not been able to compromise Blockstream’s mail system.

Users should not open any questionable emails purporting to be from Blockstream while the investigation is underway. The wallet developer then included a caveat that Blockstream would never send an email requesting sensitive information.

Users were also warned not to tell anybody else, not even the company’s support personnel, what their seed phrase was. It further emphasized that the Blockstream Green wallet app or the specialized firmware page should be used for all upgrades.

Significantly, many people who utilize the sophisticated, non-custodial wallet are not persuaded by Blockstream’s justification. Some of these people think the company may have knowingly given the fraudsters access to their personal information. To back up their claims, these customers said that Blockstream was the only company to whom they gave their email addresses.
