Cisco launches room kit and audio watermarking feature

Cisco has announced the Cisco Room Kit EQ video device bundle at its WebexOne 2022 event.

Cisco Room Kit EQ, a modular room kit that integrates up to three external displays, comes with the AI-powered Cisco Codec EQ, the intelligent Quad Camera video bar, a touch controller, and room peripheral options.

The announcement follows the launch at Microsoft Ignite of a Cisco partnership with Microsoft, enabling Teams Rooms on Cisco collaboration devices. Six of Cisco’s most popular meeting devices and three peripherals will be certified for Teams to begin with, with more to come.

Also launched at Cisco’s WebexOne event were a range of other features including a whiteboard app and audio watermarking to protect meeting confidentiality.

Audio watermarking will tag every participant’s audio stream in a confidential meeting with a marker that cannot be heard by the human ear. This means that if an employee records a meeting where confidential information is discussed, the company can trace the recording back to the individual regardless of how the audio is shared.

A new Webex Whiteboard app in the Webex Suit will offer users access to a simple, easy-to-use digital whiteboard wherever they are working. Anyone can start or join a whiteboard and work from a browser, the Webex app, or a Cisco device. Whiteboards can be combined with Slido polls and can be saved and shared in a Webex space for asynchronous work.

Cisco is also offering users a repeatable Hybrid Workspace Design Guide, based on its New York office deployment. It encompasses Cisco’s Smart Building Solutions, collaboration, networking, security technology and more.
