Coca-Cola Company Launches NFTs inside Decentraland

NFT giveaways during live event on a giant Coke can

The Coca-Cola Company will launch its very first NFT collection during a live event inside the virtual world of Decentraland. There will be NFT giveaways as well as an auction through OpenSea.

The OpenSea auction will begin at 12:01 am UTC on Friday 30th July and close at 8:00 pm UTC on Monday 2nd August.

During the auction Coca-Cola will sell a unique loot box, celebrating International Friendship Day. The package contains various NFTs inspired by other Coca-Cola collectibles. Among the contents is a unique wearable to use inside Decentraland. 

Proceeds from the auction go to charity. Coca-Cola will donate the money to the International Special Olympics, an organization they’ve been supporting for 53 years.  

Decentraland Rooftop Party

Coca-Cola Company will celebrate the auction on Friday, July 30th from 8pm till 9pm UTC during a special ‘can-top’ party inside Decentraland. Look for a giant Coke can, specially-constructed for Decentraland, and join surprise music guests providing the party vibes.

At the event, visitors can get a first peek at the ‘Coca-Cola Friendship Box’. Visitors of the virtual events will also have a chance to enter a giveaway for mythic Coca-Cola wearable t-shirts. These shirts are rare NFTs that players can wear inside Decentraland. RSVP for the event on the Decentraland website.

MANA price movement

Decentraland is a virtual world built on top of the Ethereum blockchain. However, several functionalities exist on the Polygon blockchain as well. Native to the ecosystem is the MANA token, which players need to purchase land or wearables. A percentage gets burned after every purchase, making MANA scarcer every time someone sells an NFT.

The MANA token has increased in price 32% in the past 7 days. At the time of writing the token is $0,69. The Coca-Cola announcement hardly had any influence on the price of the token.
