CoinQuora Exclusive Interview — Allen Wei, CEO of LBank

Allen Wei is the CEO of LBank, one of the biggest top 30 crypto exchanges in CoinMarketCap and Coingceko. He is a professional IT developer and a Bitcoin enthusiast. He aims to expand the reach of LBank in different countries around the world.

The CoinQuora team asked Allen questions to help us get to know him, what they do at LBank, and to tell us some things about his thoughts on the industry. Without further ado, here’s the interview.

Q. Please give us a little insight into your background.

Hello, everybody. I am Allen Wei, currently the CEO of the LBank exchange. Before designing the LBank exchange in 2015, I was a professional IT developer. The whitepaper of Bitcoin and its blockchain is one of the most interesting technologies that I’ve read. It has also inspired me to build a team to develop the exchange.

Q. What do you aim to achieve with the LBank Global Conference 2021?

The LBank Global Conference 2021 is one of the most important events for us this year. One of the primary goals of this conference is to expand LBank’s global reach. The city of Dubai is a very good place to build international connections.

Q. What are some of LBank’s goals locally (within UAE) and internationally (Worldwide)?

As we all know, Dubai strongly embraces cryptocurrency and blockchain technology. Hence, we want to take the opportunity to showcase LBank’s features and to connect with more blockchain enthusiasts and investors. Furthermore, we are keen to develop a deeper understanding of the UAE market.

Q. How would you compare the UAE with other countries like China or the USA when it comes to blockchain/crypto?

The industry is definitely attracting more attention and growing at a fast speed. Dubai especially is very welcoming towards crypto/blockchain, and that is also part of the reason why we see Dubai as a very important place to establish our strategic footprint.

Q. What is your view on Dubai being one of the blockchain hubs? What does the future hold for cryptocurrency in Dubai?

Dubai is a city where imagination comes to life, it’s a unique place for crypto/blockchain with its culture and location. The upcoming Expo event will attract entrepreneurs and investors from all over the world. That is also where we will be hosting our next major event, on 10-11 October at the India pavilion. With the current trend, I believe we will be able to see more local opportunities and activities in the future

Q. Seeing that you are one of the pioneers of LBank, what was it like for you to build a start-up at that time?

I was very excited and 100% devoted. Building a company from scratch is definitely not easy, but our passion helped us overcome a lot, and is still driving us to achieve more.

Q. What are your thoughts on the current blockchain trends (DeFi / NFTs)?

Today, Defi and NFT are very popular either inside or outside of the crypto community. I personally like NFT quite a lot. Also, I believe that NFT is just the start of a much bigger world where we can see blockchain’s influence everywhere in our daily lives. In the coming years, there will be more NFT applications and we expect to see some major players from other industries joining.

Q. As a blockchain investor, how do you identify a good investment? Have you ever made a bad investment? What was the lesson learned?

A good investment has many elements and we adopt different strategies for the primary and secondary market. Information about projects could be non-transparent or even misleading at times, I’ve made mistakes too in my personal investment experience, which is why research is very important. Under LBank Exchange there is LBK Labs — where we run a VC and a hedge fund. We have a very experienced research team to help with investment decisions. However, for individual investors, my advice would be to read more about what is going on in the industry, to be alert and agile, to not easily panic, and maybe pay attention to what the professionals are doing.

Q. Are there any other exciting projects that LBank customers should watch out for?

For now, we want to focus more on what we can offer users, for example, if our fee is competitive, if our customer service is efficient, or if our user experience is good enough. Other than that, LBank regularly lists quality projects and publishes relevant information on our official media channels. In the coming year, we will focus on improving our products to better serve the global market, and we definitely have a lot to offer for our current and potential users.
