Daniel E. Jones, a staff physicist at the DEVCOM Army Research Laboratory, who brings a wealth of knowledge in the field of quantum physics, particularly in the area of entanglement distribution in fiber networks and quantum state characterization, will speak at the IQT the Hague Conference in April 2024. His academic and professional background positions him as an insightful speaker, especially on topics related to practical applications of quantum technologies in communication and defense.

Jones’s academic journey in physics began with a B.A. degree from McDaniel College, Westminster, MD, USA, in 2010, followed by an M.S. and Ph.D. in physics from the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC) in 2012 and 2016, respectively. His educational background provided a strong foundation in the theoretical and experimental aspects of quantum physics.

After completing his postdoctoral research at the DEVCOM Army Research Laboratory in 2016, Jones transitioned to a staff physicist position in 2018. His work at the laboratory reflects a deep engagement with cutting-edge research in quantum technology, with a particular focus on the practical challenges and opportunities in the field.

As a co-chair of the DC-QNet Experiments Working Group, Jones is involved in pioneering work in quantum networking. His research into entanglement distribution in fiber networks is particularly relevant in developing secure communication systems using quantum technologies. Additionally, his work on new experimental methods for characterizing quantum states is crucial for advancing the understanding and application of quantum physics in various technologies.

At the IQT The Hague conference, Daniel E. Jones is expected to share insights from his extensive research experience, including his work at DEVCOM. His presentation will likely cover the latest developments in entanglement distribution, challenges in quantum state characterization, and the potential applications of these technologies in secure communications and defense sectors.

IQT The Hague 2024 is the Netherlands’ fifth global conference and exhibition. The Hague is a Quantum Technology Event focusing on Quantum Networking and Quantum Security. Ten vertical topics encompassing more than 40-panel talks from over 100 speakers will provide attendees with a deep understanding of state-of-the-art developments of the future quantum internet and the current impact of quantum-safe technologies on cybersecurity and quantum computers.

The conference brings together corporate management, entrepreneurs, end users, technology providers, infrastructure partners, researchers, and investors working on current developments. IQT The Hague is organized by 3DR Holdings, IQT Research, QuTech, QIA (Quantum Internet Alliance), and Quantum Delta NL, who will bring leading organizations and professionals together in this important event. The April conference is “in-person” to ensure maximum networking and discussion at the Postillion Hotel & Convention Centre in The Hague.
