In April, the IQT The Hague conference will feature Dr. Diego R. Lopez, a prominent figure in the field of telecommunications, currently leading the Technology Exploration activities within the GCTIO Unit at Telefónica. With a rich background that spans both the academic sector and applied research in network infrastructures, Lopez brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the conference, particularly in the areas of security and quantum communications.

Before his tenure at Telefónica, Lopez dedicated several years to academic research on network services, gaining recognition for his contributions to the field. His appointment to the High-Level Expert Group on Scientific Data Infrastructures by the European Commission highlights his expertise and contributions to the development of advanced network infrastructures.

Currently, Lopez’s work at Telefónica is centered on applied research in network infrastructures, focusing on data-driven management, new architectures, security, and quantum communications. This focus is crucial for developing telecommunications networks to support the next generation of digital services, including those enabled by quantum technologies. As an ETSI Fellow and chair of the ETSI ISG ZSM, Lopez plays a significant role in shaping the standards and frameworks that will underpin future network infrastructures, including those that integrate quantum communication technologies.

At the IQT The Hague conference, Lopez is expected to share insights from his work on the forefront of integrating quantum communications into existing and future telecommunications networks, using his work at Telefónica as an example. His presentation will likely cover the challenges and opportunities of quantum technologies for network security, the potential impacts of quantum communications on network architectures, and the ongoing efforts to standardize and regulate these emerging technologies.

IQT The Hague 2024 is the Netherlands’ fifth global conference and exhibition. The Hague is a Quantum Technology Event focusing on Quantum Networking and Quantum Security. Ten vertical topics encompassing more than 40 panel talks from over 100 speakers will provide attendees with a deep understanding of state-of-the-art developments of the future quantum internet and the current impact of quantum-safe technologies on cybersecurity and quantum computers.

The conference brings together corporate management, entrepreneurs, end users, technology providers, infrastructure partners, researchers, and investors working on current developments. IQT The Hague is organized by 3DR Holdings, IQT Research, QuTech, QIA (Quantum Internet Alliance), and Quantum Delta NL, who will bring leading organizations and professionals together in this important event. The April conference is “in-person” to ensure maximum networking and discussion at the Postillion Hotel & Convention Centre in The Hague.
