Oscar Mayer, an American meat and cold cut production company, recently announced that it will auction an item called “Hot Doge Wieners.”
This item, which includes 10 sausages, and the iconic Shiba Inu dogecoin printed on the packaging, will be auctioned at 10,000 dogecoins.
Kraft Heinz, the American food juggernaut that owns Oscar Meyer, said that the proceeds from the auction will be donated to “Feeding America,” a food bank and hunger-relief organization.
Auction ended quickly
The auction was supposed to start on August 7, but because of the overwhelming excitement of bidders, it was postponed immediately.
Oscar Mayer tweeted: “You guys really took this to the moon and the link is down but will be up soon!”
With dogecoin’s current valuation of $0.1976, the item’s 10,000 dogecoin price is equivalent to $1,976. The Dogecoin community at Reddit said that the bid price for “Hot Doge Wieners” has reached $3,450 in just a few hours.
Other Doge ventures
The American meat company is not alone in venturing into Dogecoin cryptocurrencies to test its potential to promote products. Burger King has also made its own Doge venture, riding in the increasing popularity of the meme coin.
But Doge isn’t only used by food companies for promotions alone but also for actual payments. The Brazilian branch of Burger King has started accepting Dogecoin payments for its snack called “Dogpper.”
With this growing acceptance, not only of Dogecoin but cryptocurrencies as a whole, it is clear that these digital assets will have a huge impact on people’s lives in the future. And as early as now, more and more companies are racing to set a firm footing on this growing market.
