Terra co-founder Do Kwon made an appearance on Twitter to invite Cosmos developers to integrate with Terra Station.
“Cosmos chain core teams interested in Station integration pls send DM,” tweeted Kwon on Sunday, adding that the integration would be “ofc free.”
Terra Station is the blockchain’s wallet infrastructure that allows users to interact with decentralized applications built on Terra. The integration with Cosmos native chains means that platforms built on Cosmos’ blockchain infrastructure will be able to access their own ecosystems from the Station Wallet.
Kwon said that Cosmos’s native token ATOM, decentralized exchange Osmosis’ token OSMO, and interchain application Juno would be supported. In follow up tweets, Kwon said that this support would be extended to privacy-focused Secret Network, Cosmos’ meme coin HUAHUA, layer 1 Sei network and DeFi platform Injective Network
The move was hailed as a “lowkey genius play” by RoboMcGobo, a co-founder of the Osmosis Support Lab.
“Enabling terrastation support for cosmos native chains is a way to inject liquidity back into Terra. The value add for Terra should greatly exceed the costs of these integrations,” tweeted RoboMcGobo in response to Kwon’s announcement.
Earlier this month, Kwon dismissed a Terra Community proposal to revive the Terra ecosystem as a “subpar spend of the community pool.” In a fairly extensive comment on the Terra forum, Kwon opined that the Cosmos SDK has the best tech to launch new blockchains but its interchain ecosystem had not taken off in the capacity that it should.
Citing high liquidity and engineering costs coupled with user fragmentation as the reasons for a lower than desired Total Value Locked, Kwon said that Terra is the “best place” to solve these problems.
He proposed using the community pool to support station interchain support so that LUNA liquidity staking derivatives, like LunaX, could be used on Cosmos for staking.
