“This generous donation to C.O.P.S. also shows the compassion and commitment from the company to always honor the fallen.” – Dianne Bernhard, C.O.P.S. Executive Director.

A fundraising effort organized by GovX, the online shopping site exclusively for current and former military and first responders, has raised $15,350 for Concerns of Police Survivors, the nonprofit fund that provides for the families of fallen police officers.

The GovX Gives Back charitable initiative raised the amount through individual sales of the August 2021 Patch of the Month and orders of GovX’s dedicated line of athletic apparel and products.

Each year, between 140 and 160 police officers are killed in the line of duty. Concerns of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S.) provides resources to families and co-workers to deal with this staggering loss. Survivors include spouses, children, parents, siblings, significant others, and co-workers of officers who have died. C.O.P.S. programs include counseling, peer support, retreats and activities for kids, legal support, and more for families and coworkers recovering from the loss of a loved one.

C.O.P.S. was organized in 1984 with 110 individual members. Today, C.O.P.S. membership is over 54,000 survivors. Survivors include spouses, children, parents, siblings, significant others, and co-workers of officers who have died in the line of duty according to federal government criteria. C.O.P.S. is governed by a national board of law enforcement survivors. All programs and services are administered by the National Office in Camdenton, Missouri. C.O.P.S. has over 50 chapters nationwide that work with survivors at the grass-roots level.

“The high quality products GovX offers to first responders and military personnel at discounted rates is already such a perk for those who have dedicated their lives to serving others,” said Dianne Bernhard, C.O.P.S. Executive Director. “This generous donation to C.O.P.S. also shows the compassion and commitment from the company to always honor the fallen and make sure their survivors left behind are supported. Words can’t describe our appreciation.”

Programs for survivors include the National Police Survivors’ Conference held each May during National Police Week, scholarships, peer-support at the national, state, and local levels, “C.O.P.S. Kids” counseling reimbursement program, the “C.O.P.S. Kids” Summer Camp, “C.O.P.S. Teens” Outward Bound Adventure for young adults, special retreats for spouses, parents, siblings, adult children, extended family, and co-workers, trial and parole support, and other assistance programs.

“We continue to be grateful to the entire American law enforcement community,” said Alan Cole, GovX CEO. “It’s a true honor to support C.O.P.S. as they help families navigate the tragic loss of an officer in the line of duty. I’m grateful to the GovX community for helping us maximize our donation to this worthy cause.”
