Grand Theft Auto (GTA) 6 is rumored to be featuring in-game cryptocurrencies to reward players instead of offering the cash that can be even traded on the stock market, according to gaming enthusiasts Tom Henderson.

Players will reportedly be able to earn “bitcoin instead of cash” in missions from some characters that seek to transfer large and untraceable amounts of money.

“I heard recently that in GTA 6, some missions will reward you in bitcoin instead of cash for completing some missions.” he tweeted.

“Just so there’s even less confusion I’m not joking. This is what I heard from someone that I trust and it will likely not be called “Bitcoin” per se. But it will be a cryptocurrency” he added.

The tipster claimed that he heard the news from a trusted source. It should be noted that he’s well-known within the gaming community because of his credible track record of leaking information about Battlefield and Call of Duty.

No Official Confirmation Yet

After some fans enquire whether he actually means actual Bitcoin, the GTA insider clarified that it was fictional crypto:

“Just so there’s no confusion, I mean in-game payments of bitcoin. These payments will come from the more higher-up characters that need to transfer high amounts of “untraceable cash and fast.”

Since Rockstar Games, the company behind GTA doesn’t use real brands or companies in the video game, the currency in question could likely be a parody of Bitcoin or other popular cryptocurrencies.

Despite confirming that he heard the news from a trusted source, Henderson told his followers to take the latest leak with a “grain of salt” as the company is yet to reveal anything officially.
