Most recently, the Harmony Blockchain has opened registration for a hackathon beginning next month with over $1 million in seed funding and prizes for participants. As for the hackathon, it will be running for roughly six weeks from August 15 to September 30 and will include four challenges from three different categories.
Harmony Blockchain Said Hackathon Focuses on Bringing More People
Harmony blockchain said in an announcement on Twitter made on Thursday that the hackathon would be targeted on bringing more people from traditional finance for challenges bridging their fields and decentralized finance.
As per the protocol, it said that there are going to be four challenges in each category of social wallets and keyless security, cross-chain and trustless bridges, and cross-border with fintech integration.
In addition to this, Harmony said:
“In a blockchain, finance is where we are seeing product-market fit. But most of Defi was created by people who didn’t come from traditional finance. We want to bring more TradFi in to contribute to Defi. We know they have much to teach us and we can help them understand and harness the power of Defi and teach them a lot as well.”
SushiSwap Core Developer Omakase Listed As Featured Speakers For The Event
The core developer of SushiSwap, Omakase is listed as one of the featured speakers or judges for the event alongside Lily Liu, the co-founder of Earn.com, and Imran Khan, a Defi Alliance lead.
Talking further about other sponsors, it includes CoinGecko, DappRadar, Messaru, The Defiant, Hummingbot, SushiSwap, Unstoppable Domains, and DoraHacks.
Harmony mainnet, a sharding protocol with a trustless Ethereum bridge that separates its chain into segments that process transactions and store data in parallel went live in the year 2019.
In addition to this, it should be noted that Harmony revealed last month that it is going to sponsor the hackathon with its aim to reach 10 billion people.
