HNT’s Price Not Moved by Helium ‘Users” Controversy

HNT’s Price was not moved by the alleged Helium ‘Users’ controversy. Despite recent reports suggesting that the project promoted fictitious partnerships (i.e alleged Helium users controversy) with two significant tech companies who claim they are not working with Helium’s parent company, the price of helium (HNT), the native token of Helium, a developer of a “decentralized wireless infrastructure,” appears to be moving along with the market.

HNT was even moving upward since July 29, when the reports first surfaced, before correcting downward on Sunday as the entire cryptocurrency market pared its gains.

HNT’s price or rather HNT itself was trading at USD 9.26 at 08:39 UTC, ranked 52nd by market capitalization on CoinGecko.com, down almost 2% from the previous day, and unchanged from the previous week. The price increased by almost 2% in a month and decreased by 33% in a week.

The wireless network service advertised its ridesharing operation. Its top clients included Lime and leading customer relationship management company Salesforce, whose logos were displayed on the website. Both businesses, however, have denied this assertion.

Russell Murphy, Senior Director for corporate communications at Lime, told Mashable that “Lime has not had, and does not currently have, a relationship with Helium beyond an initial test of its product in 2019.”

Murphy asserts that there hasn’t been any interaction between Helium and Lime since a “brief test of [Helium’s] product that didn’t last beyond a month or two” in the summer of 2019. The director claimed that Lime had requested that Helium refrains from using its name in any promotional materials as a condition of the trial.

Nevertheless, Helium displayed Lime’s logo on its website and claimed to be “trusted by” Lime. (As of this writing, Lime and Salesforce appear to have been taken down from Helium’s website.)

Murphy was quoted as saying, “Helium has been making this claim for years and it is a false claim.” According to reports, his business is getting ready to send Helium a cease and desist letter for using the rideshare service’s name and logo on its website and in its advertising.

Salesforce, another company that denied using the project’s products, also responded negatively to Helium’s actions.

According to Ashley Eliasoph, a representative for Salesforce, “Helium is not a Salesforce partner” and “the graphic on Helium’s website that identified the customer relationship management specialist as its customer [is] not accurate.”
