IBC2022 attracts 37,000 visitors and 1,000-plus exhibitors

The first live IBC Show since 2019 welcomed 37,071 visitors from 170 countries and more than 1,000 exhibitors to the RAI Amsterdam from 9-12 September.

The attendance figure for the show – which has been held virtually for the past two years – represented a 34.2% fall on the high point of 56,390 delegates who visited IBC2019.

Chief executive Michael Crimp said:  “It was great to see, feel and hear the buzz of a live IBC once more. The quality of visitors has been outstanding and there was a real sense of positivity. We are stronger together.”

The show featured more than 250 headline speakers, with one of the highlights a keynote by immersive-journalism pioneer Nonny de la Peña, hailed as ‘the godmother of virtual reality’, who addressed the topic ‘what’s next: how immersive tech will create new narratives and transform entertainment’.

IBC director Steve Connolly said: “On the second day, stand rebooking for next year’s show was already in such heavy demand that we’ve expanded the show footprint for IBC2023 to include an additional hall not used this year.”
