A cultural revival

A collaborative venture between Brinc and The Sandbox, BharatBox seeks to create a cultural hub involving notable partners from India’s sports, entertainment, and art industries, including Bollywood.

An article by Entrepreneur India notes that high-profile brands and artists will together create an area in The Sandbox specifically for celebrating Indian art and culture while engaging fans in immersive experiences.

According to The Sandbox, the Mahabharata project in BharatBox is far more than just a game; it’s a cultural revival that brings the epic story to a modern, widely accessible digital platform.

Sebastien Borget, co-founder and COO of The Sandbox, emphasized that this collaboration goes beyond creating a game, stating that:

“We’re not only creating a game here; we’re pioneering a cultural resurgence, bringing the Mahabharata into a contemporary digital medium that resonates with today’s audience across the globe.”

BharatBox’s metaverse serves as more than just an observation platform; it’s an interactive world where users can explore the Puranic Realms, relive epic conflicts, and create original stories set within the story of the Mahabharata.

What is the Mahabharata?

The Mahabharata is, according to Wikipedia, one of the two major Sanskrit epics of ancient India highly esteemed in Hinduism, the other being the Rāmāyaṇa. This narrates the events of the war of the Kurukshetra, also known as the Mahabharata War, and its aftermath, as well as the succession between two groups of princely cousins, the Kauravas and the Pāṇḍavas.

Now, with BharatBox and Mythoverse teaming up to tell the story, this method reportedly will strengthen the epic’s educational and cultural value by encouraging a close, intimate relationship with it.

According to The Entrepreneur, the Mahabharata in BharatBox isn’t just a mere addition to the metaverse but a bold cultural statement. It is a walk into a world where “mythology isn’t just a tale of the past but a living, breathing experience.”

“The Mahabharata is a treasure trove of wisdom and drama. Bringing it to the metaverse is our tribute to its timeless relevance,” said Madhu Mantena, producer and founder of Mythoverse Studios.

“We’re crafting an experience that will leave a lasting impact on our audience,” added Mantena, whose studio will focus on retelling all the quintessential tales of Indian mythology during their illustrious 21st century.

Avatar and NFT collection

Recognized for its ability to engage in transmedia storytelling, Mythoverse brings a vast Avatar collection to BharatBox, complete with beautifully rendered Mahabharata characters. Users can experience the experiences of great personalities firsthand by putting themselves in their shoes through each avatar.

“Our vision is to create a realm where ancient sagas of India are reborn for the digital age, offering a new dimension of engagement and understanding,” said Karan Keswani, CEO of BharatBox.

A special NFT collection complements the avatars, acting as cultural artifacts that combine blockchain technology with Indian tradition.
