The IQT The Hague conference is set to illuminate the pivotal role of quantum technologies within the European Union’s strategic vision, featuring Dr. Oscar Diez, the head of quantum technologies at the European Commission (EC). Dr. Diez’s leadership in this area marks a significant commitment by the EC to advancing quantum technologies as part of the broader EU strategy for digital transformation and technological sovereignty.

Dr. Diez’s rich background combines deep technical expertise with substantial experience in the governance and strategic deployment of advanced technologies, which he leverages with his work at the EC. His previous role as head of the European Medicines Agency (EMA) data center in London showcased his capability to manage critical IT infrastructures, which is invaluable in understanding the potential applications and implications of quantum technologies in various sectors, including healthcare.

Holding a PhD in Computer Science from Universidad Politécnica in Madrid, coupled with a Master’s degree in Open eGovernment from the University of Stockholm, Dr. Diez has a comprehensive understanding of both the technical and policy dimensions of digital technologies. His academic role as an adjunct professor at IE University in Madrid further underscores his commitment to educating the next generation of leaders in the intersection of technology, policy, and society.

At the IQT The Hague conference, Dr. Diez is anticipated to outline the European Commission’s initiatives and strategies related to quantum technologies, emphasizing the importance of these technologies in enhancing Europe’s competitive edge and addressing societal challenges. His insights will likely cover the EC’s approach to fostering innovation, collaboration, and investment in quantum research and development, as well as the role of quantum technologies in achieving the EU’s objectives for a digital and sustainable future.

IQT The Hague 2024 is the Netherlands’ fifth global conference and exhibition. The Hague is a Quantum Technology Event focusing on Quantum Networking and Quantum Security. Ten vertical topics encompassing more than 40-panel talks from over 100 speakers will provide attendees with a deep understanding of state-of-the-art developments of the future quantum internet and the current impact of quantum-safe technologies on cybersecurity and quantum computers.

The conference brings together corporate management, entrepreneurs, end users, technology providers, infrastructure partners, researchers, and investors working on current developments. IQT The Hague is organized by 3DR Holdings, IQT Research, QuTech, QIA (Quantum Internet Alliance), and Quantum Delta NL, who will bring leading organizations and professionals together in this important event.
