SNEAK PEEK
- Italian government emails were compromised by scammers.
- Scammers target X Legal Request Portal with Sophisticated Schemes.
- Fake lawsuits are used for unauthorized account actions to circumvent security measures.
Recent reports by ZachXBT, an on-chain sleuth, claim that scammers breached the security of Italian Government email accounts on July 27, 2023. This has resulted in the manipulation of the X Legal Request portal and further raised concerns about data privacy, internet security, and the potential misuse of legal processes for malicious purposes.

Furthermore, sources asserted that the scammers orchestrated a well-planned operation to steal sensitive emails from Italian Government officials. With access to this confidential information, the perpetrators aimed to exploit the platform by submitting fraudulent legal requests that appeared to be authentic lawsuits.
According to experts, the consequences of this breach are far-reaching since the abuse of the X Legal Request system calls into question the platform’s commitment to transparency and responsibility. According to people familiar with the matter, scammers have not only disturbed free expression by using bogus lawsuits to restrict and censor user-generated content, but they have also put innocent individuals in jeopardy.
ZachXBT took to X to share his firsthand experience with the scammers, reporting that he had gotten an email from X claiming that Italian law enforcement had requested that five of his tweets be removed. The social media giant, however, did not cooperate with the bogus requests due to X’s stringent verification standards.
To provide insight into the scope of the scam, ZachXBT released instances of fake Italian law enforcement email addresses used by the scammers, as well as a forged request ascribed to the prominent blockchain platform, Arbitrum.
Nonetheless, an alleged phishing scammer, “Chase, aka HZ,” has come under the spotlight once again after messaging an individual about an Italian law enforcement request. Chase, known for his involvement in previous phishing activities, according to ZachXBT, and having his assets seized by law enforcement for stealing millions, is potentially linked to recent cyber attacks.
