Many people in the crypto community who have been scammed or hacked know ZachXBT, a blockchain detective who does pro bono services to help them retrieve their funds. Zach is also known for calling out people who he believes are scamming people. For this, he is getting sued.

Recently, Zach announced that former Taiwanese-American musician Jeffrey Huang has filed a defamation lawsuit against him for an article he published from June 16, 2022.

According to the post, Huang, also known as Machi Big Brother, has embezzled 22,000 ETH (around $3.8 million based from today’s prices) from a defunct investment firm Formosa Capital. Since the demise of Formosa Capital, Zach accused Huang of promoting pump and dump tokens and NFT projects.

As seen from Zach’s post, the on-chain detective is intending to fight back Huang in a court. However, he lacks the funds to do so. For this, he has requested donations from the crypto space. To this, many have responded.

Some of the notable donors include Tron Founder Justin Sun, smart contract auditing firm CertiK, and Bankless, a Web3-dedicated podcast.

There was also a memecoin project dedicated to raising funds for Zach. However, the crypto detective has sent the memecoins he received to a burn address as he says he “doesn’t want to dump on people.”

Zach will be represented by legal firm Brown Rudnick in court. Schedules of the court proceedings have yet to be announced to the mainstream.
