Karmine Corp will miss European Masters

This LFL split has been full of surprises, pleasant ones if we can say. After an underwhelming LFL season, three-time champions Karmine Corp have been knocked out of the Summer Split playoffs. They lost 1-3 to Gameward in the very first round of the playoffs and got eliminated. They were champions of the European Masters this past spring, but have now failed to qualify for the Summer Edition.

We have been seeing the Blue Wall dominate the European circuit throughout the last 3 seasons. In 2021 they topped the split rankings across both seasons. KC won the title in spring and were runners-up in summer. In the spring split this year, they finished second on the standings but were eliminated by Team BDS Academy 3-1 in the playoffs. They’ve even won the European Masters with a three-peat since making their LFL debut.

Considering KC’s reputation as one of France’s most formidable League of Legends teams, their fall from grace this summer has been nothing short of unexpected. They looked absolutely dominant in Spring, and they started Summer looking like an unstoppable machine. During the first three weeks of the season, they won five out of their first six games, losing only against Gameward and coasted to the top of the standings.

But their slow, steady decline began really soon. They would win only 4 out of their next 12 games, succumbing to one defeat after the next. Perhaps the lowest point of their season was when they went down in the fifth week to the permanently bottom ranked Team Oplon. KC could manage to only pick up 8 kills in that game while Team Oplon dealt them 16 deaths, and though they prolonged the game to over 35 minutes, they would still suffer a humiliating, morale crushing defeat.

This is reflected by their overall kill to death metric, an uninspiring 0.89. They have been dealt some heavy blows this season, and they’ve suffered 14.4 deaths per game, the fourth worst among teams, while taking only 12.2 kills per game.

While KC may have underperformed, we also have to note the growth fellow LFL competitors showed. LDLC, BDS and Vitality.Bee really elevated their game and made KCorp look silly in the rematches.

To that end, bowing out of Playoffs was maybe the best thing that could happen for other European leagues. Four in a row would set a precedent and an almost unbeatable record. This way we at least get a sense of competition at this event. Don’t get it wrong, LFL is most likely going to dominate the EUM tournament, but at least we’ll be having a different champion this time.Teams like LDLC, BDS.A, VITB, and Gameward are still competing in the 2022 LFL Summer Split playoffs so make sure to check out our League of Legends betting site if you are interested in betting for your favorite team!
