Boxing legend and entrepreneur Manny Pacquiao’s charitable organization, the Manny Pacquiao Foundation (MPF), has recently announced a notable partnership with SHIB and the Shiba Inu Ecosystem. This collaboration will leverage Shibarium, a Layer 2 blockchain, to enhance fundraising efforts, streamline distribution, and optimize various operational facets.

Why Shibarium?

• In an effort to increase operational efficiency, the foundation will employ Shibarium for improved tracking and management of fundraising, donations, and resources.
• The media release stated that this adoption not only augments internal processes but also promises greater transparency for external stakeholders regarding the foundation’s worldwide humanitarian initiatives.

Shytoshi Kusama, the Lead Developer of Shiba Inu, shared his enthusiasm about the partnership, highlighting the importance of utilizing advanced Web 3 technologies in philanthropic endeavors.

The Manny Pacquiao Foundation said its integration with Shibarium marks its most extensive blockchain venture yet. However, the foundation also stated that it has been progressive in adopting cryptocurrency, accepting SHIB donations since 2021 and collaborating with notable organizations like Binance Charity and the Jack Ma Foundation.

What is Shibarium

Shibarium, a Layer 2 blockchain built atop Ethereum, utilizes the Proof of Participation (POP) mechanism, focusing on community engagement and environmental sustainability.

• It aims to revolutionize the blockchain space with rapid transactions and minimal gas fees.
• Shibarium is not only a part of the larger Shiba Inu ecosystem, which includes various tokens, NFTs, and a decentralized exchange but is also in its beta phase, dubbed PUPPYNET 3, encouraging digital innovation and peer-to-peer transactions.

Manny Pacquiao’s Crypto and Web3 Activities

In the crypto space, the former Senator served as the ambassador for GCOX in 2018, introducing the Pac Token. In 2023, Pacquiao announced the establishment of his crypto and fintech firm, Pac Pay.

The boxing champion was also involved in several non-fungible token (NFT) projects. His first venture was in 2021 with the launch of a licensed authenticated NFT collection on Ethernity Chain.  

In June 2022, Pacquiao launched the “Pacman the Jack Russell” NFT project, a collection of 9,999 dog-themed NFTs dedicated to his late dog, Pacman. This collection is intended to serve as the foundational step for the “Pacman Boxing League,” a proposed blockchain-based game. However, as of the latest update, there are no new developments regarding the game.

In July 2022, Pacquiao collaborated with Lodi Technologies, the creators of LodiCoin, to introduce his inaugural NFT collection, Manny Pacquiao NFT (MPNFT). The latest information on the sale indicated that fewer than 10 NFTs had been minted out of the 10,000 supply. Unfortunately, the project’s website is currently inaccessible. Lodicoin was also the subject of an advisory by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

Earlier this year, Pacquiao had another NFT venture as he teamed up with GameFi Project Xeno for a blockchain project offering exclusive NFT designs, available for purchase with stablecoins BUSD/USDT or credit cards.

In May, he was present during the in-person event of Metaspacex where attendees have the chance to “learn from the best and play to earn with Pacquiao.”
