Critical Security Updates for FirefoxThe Mozilla has released security updates to address multiple vulnerabilities in their Firefox browser, including 11 critical fixes.

Among the critical fixes is for a “use after free” bug. This is where a program referencing memory after it has been freed. This can cause a program to crash. It is technically possible for hackers to exploit this vulnerability launch buffer overflow attacks.

Another critical vulnerability could allow hackers to exploit a bug in the JavaScript library to execute arbitrary code on the target system.

Also announced were security updates for the Mozilla Thunderbird email client. The following updates are available:

  • Firefox 31
  • Thunderbird 31
  • Firefox ESR 24.7
  • Thunderbird 24.7
