Mozilla Releases Critical Security Updates for Firefox

The Mozilla has released security updates to address multiple vulnerabilities in their Firefox browser, including 11 critical fixes.

Among the critical fixes is for a “use after free” bug. This is where a program referencing memory after it has been freed. This can cause a program to crash. It is technically possible for hackers to exploit this vulnerability launch buffer overflow attacks.

Another critical vulnerability could allow hackers to exploit a bug in the JavaScript library to execute arbitrary code on the target system.

Also announced were security updates for the Mozilla Thunderbird email client. The following updates are available:

• Firefox 31
• Thunderbird 31
• Firefox ESR 24.7
• Thunderbird 24.7
