For its team-up with the BOI, the agreement was witnessed by the members of the DTI-BOI, including Undersecretary Ceferino Rodolfo, Executive Directors Evariste Cagatan and Ma. Corazon Halili-Dichosa, and Director Lanie Dormiendo. For the private sector, the representatives were Maclang, Aliling, Dr. Alexander Titov of Astrolabe, GeiserMaclang CEO Brad Geiser, and Kersten Calimag of Digital Pilipinas.

The DTI-BOI aims to promote investments and support the development of industries in the country.

Recent Partnership

Last month, PEZA organized the event “Philippines: The Digital Bridgeway to ASEAN and the World,” in partnership with Digital Pilipinas and Astrolabe, and was supported by the Philippine Mission in ASEAN.

The event aimed to explore how the IT-BPO industry can utilize emerging technologies such as Web3 and AI to uncover new opportunities for businesses and revolutionize the global digital landscape. It was held on April 27 at the PEZA office.

What is Digital Pilipinas?

Digital Pilipinas is a movement led by the private sector that advocates for the adoption of emerging technologies and cross-border collaborations to advance the country’s position in the global digital economy. The initiative is focused on upgrading the country’s technological capabilities and promoting the Philippines as a hub for digital innovation and development.

Digital Pilipinas organized its own Fintech Festival last October 17-21, 2022; they simultaneously held the World FinTech Festival-Philippines (WFF-PH) and the inaugural Philippine FinTech Festival (PFF).

Last November, Maclang was recognized for her efforts in forging strong cross-border collaborations across the region. She was honored with the ASEAN Fintech Leader award at the Singapore Fintech Festival, making her the first-ever Filipino to receive this award.

Also last month, Digital Pilipinas, together with the British Embassy Manila, inaugurated the Southeast Asia Tech Week Philippines. The event resulted in Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Undersecretary for Competitiveness and Innovation Group, Rafaelita Aldaba, challenging the stakeholders to produce 100 unicorns, a kind of company that has a valuation of $1 billion without being listed on the stock market, in the country.
