Sky Mavis, the developer behind the hit web3 game Axie Infinity, announced recently its partnership with Ethereum-based non-fungible token project CryberKongz. The collaboration will open the Mavis Market for the launch of the Genkai collection.

In addition to launching their collection on Ronin’s NFT marketplace, CyberKongz will also migrate their first innovative utility project, Play & Kollect, from Polygon to Ronin. This fully decentralized experience allows users to discover, mint, and collect NFTs. 

Accordingly, as part of the homecoming celebration, Sky Mavis will be rewarding each Mystic Axie holder with one Genkai NFT for each Mystic Axie they own. 

Moreover, all Ethereum Genkai holders will have the option to migrate their NFTs to the Ronin blockchain in the future.

In a statement, Sky Mavis noted that this partnership reinforces its dedication to making Ronin the industry standard for blockchain gaming. Moreover, it expressed that by partnering with top NFT projects, the developer can build a gaming ecosystem with a large user base, community-owned protocols, applications, and deep asset liquidity.

In addition, Sky Mavis also disclosed that it is set to expand its intellectual property by amplifying CyberKongz’s latest expansion of IP through the Genkai mint.

“By partnering with Sky Mavis we are embarking on a unique opportunity to accelerate our already established gaming ecosystem, while also enabling an expansion of our holder base,” CyberKongz founder and artist, Myoo, stated. 

CyberKongz is a 1000-piece NFT collection of pixelated gorillas launched in March 2021 with NFT mechanics, such as $BANANA tokenomics. 

“Additionally, CyberKongz will be working with Ronin to develop a game featuring Genkai. This ambitious venture will seek to alter the paradigm of web3 IP in a gamified manner,” Myoo added.

What is Genkai?

CyberKongz’s Genkai is an anime-inspired art collection and the next edition of CyberKongz IP– its first non-pixelated artwork. The Genkai mint will take place on July 27, 2023 at 4pm UTC. There will be a total of 20,000 Genkais, with 4,000 to be minted on Ronin and 16,000 on Ethereum Mainnet.

“Genkai is the first non-pixel artwork I have created for CyberKongz and will represent our growth as a project to expand our IP into the Southeast Asian and Japanese markets,” the founder expressed.

As per the media release, Genkai mint uses CyberKongz’s ERC-721x smart contract for seamless transactions, tighter security, and asset locking. Locked NFTs can engage in “stakeless staking,” earning rewards while held in the lock registry. This registry supports parallel staking, enabling assets to accumulate rewards from multiple systems simultaneously.
