In what can be described as a very rare scenario, a small BTC miner got the block reward of 6.25 BTC. The individual with a computing power of just 126 terahashes per second was able to win the block race and to receive the reward. The event occurred on Tuesday at block height 718,124 with the miner solving a block on the solo mining pool operated by CKPool. The solo CK ranks 14 on the BTC pools ranking but in the meantime, the lucky entity had only about 0.000073% chance of mining a block.

As per the tweets from Dr. Con Kolivas who worked on the development of the miner, the crypto mining software, the chances of finding a block per day with this small hashrate was 1 in 10,000. while Kolivas noted that this event happened once in a life, the software engineer also noted that another such small miner solved the block on the crypto pool one year ago. He added that it was usually the bigger miners that are able to solve blocks. The miner’s reward of 6.25 BTC is worth over $267,000 that goes under the current price of BTC at the time of writing. While the two percent of the BTC reward goes to the platform, the miner got a transaction fee reward of 0.1 BTC.

As recently reported, San Francisco-based Siraj Raval mines ethereum by connecting graphic processing units to the Tesla Car battery. The Tesla owner tried mining every way with the help of his Tesla 2018 Model 3. He ran free BTC mining software on his Apple mac mini M1 and powered the computer via an inverter into the 12-volt power socket that is located in the center console of the car. He also hooped up interconnected graphics processing units to his can and run the machines off the internal battery of the car. Some of the risks however involved voiding his car warranty but Raval said it was worth it.
