According to the executive, one of the most pressing worries in France about Bitcoin adoption is the pro-blockchain narrative, which portrays a poor picture of Bitcoin. He stated the following:

“For many years it’s been blockchain is great. Bitcoin is bad. So, we try to produce content with prominent Bitcoiners and people want us to be able to explain what Bitcoin really is.”

In terms of the relationship between surfing and Bitcoin, the CEO stated that the event’s purpose was to create a relaxed environment where the ecosystem could assemble and develop connections. Tonnellier elaborated:

“We wanted to have a place to gather people in very nice settings at the end of August so people can enjoy the beach, feel like we are on holidays talking about Bitcoin, and we want to be very chill and relaxed, so you don’t see many suits and a bow tie.”

The event organizer also stated that there have been a lot of Web3 and nonfungible token (NFT) events in the nation, but not many Bitcoin events. He went on to say that this inspired their team to organize the event.

Aside from that, Hall questioned Tonnellier about the challenges they are now having in preparing an event amid a down market. The event organizer noted that there are various ups and downs, including determining the event’s budget. He stated:

“This limits the amount of sponsoring opportunities and especially in bear markets, it’s reduced even more and as you can imagine, the budget for marketing is shrinking considerably.”

Despite the difficulties, Tonnellier stated that they were able to assemble participants and carry out the event. He emphasized how satisfying it was for his team to have individuals from outside of France attend the event.
