The Brazilian Senate will hire a crypto & blockchain expert that will serve as an advisor for future policy-making. The Senate is looking for specialists with deep knowledge in both respective fields, that can help create laws for the country’s crypto economy.

The recruiting managers stated in an official Senate post that candidates must have “particular expertise” of both “crypto assets and blockchain.” In addition to “broad knowledge” of the technology, applicants would be required to demonstrate a specialized grasp of smart contracts, blockchain technology, and “algorithms,” as well as knowledge of economic, commercial, and consumer legislation. They will also need to be well-versed in industry rules.

The Senate stated that it would want to recruit two people in this sector, with the successful candidates receiving the title “legislative consultant to the Senate.” The new recruits will give “legislative and budgetary counsel,” as well as “economic and information technology” analyses.

According to Exame, the new recruits will also advise Senate committees and the National Congress (the lower parliamentary chamber) on “blockchain technology, crypto assets, and other problems connected to the economic and legal sectors.”

Brazil’s Senate has taken the lead on crypto regulation, with some of its senators designing an ambitious plan that intends to regulate crypto exchanges and brokers while also establishing a legal framework for crypto miners to operate inside.

The measure was later adopted. Critics, on the other hand, have alleged that the draft law was rushed and inadequate and that it was deficient in critical areas.

The Senate replied by declaring that there would be “room for improvement” at a later date and that further regulatory measures will be implemented.
