The PC and Console Shooters We’d Like to See on Android

The past couple of years have seen a raft of previously home-based shooters come to mobile. There’s Call of Duty, PUBG and Fortnite and the recently released Apex Legends Mobile to name just a few of the ones that are currently available.

And on the way we’ve got another CoD game, the reappearance of Payday, as well as new pocked-sized versions of Rainbow Six and scenery-destroying military fave Battlefield. Which made us wonder about which other shooty-bang-bang franchises we’d like to see make the leap to the Play Store.

After we’d wondered for a few minutes, we decided to write down our wonderings. And that’s what you’re reading right now. These are the PC and console shooters that we’d like to see on Android. And probably won’t.

Destiny

To be honest, we’ve been banging on about the potential of a version of Destiny for mobile ever since the original game landed all those years ago. It’s pretty much the perfect fit, especially with the increased oomph of modern phones. Wham a controller on and you’re laughing.

Bulletstorm

Bulletstorm is one of those big, beefy shooters that have developed something of a cult following over the years. It’s crass and full of gross-out humor, but the shooting here is sublime. Throw in a grappling hook and all manner of extra points for creative slaughter. And then put it in your pocket.

Borderlands

Everyone loves looting, and everyone loves shooting, so it really just makes sense for Borderlands to come to mobile. And we mean proper Borderlands, not the Telltale games one. Pretty sure the first game would run on a modern Android phone.

Wolfenstein

The new era of Wolfenstein games has been a pleasant, brutal and surprisingly engaging surprise. The alternate history WW2 you’re fighting your way through might be full of demons and monsters, but it’s surprisingly nuanced at the same time. And it’d be nice to have that in your pocket, right?

Overwatch

Blizzard is certainly taking a big stab at the mobile market, what with the recently released Diablo Immortal and the upcoming Warcraft Arclight Rumble. Which makes it okay for us to pretend like there’s a chance that team-based blaster Overwatch might come to mobile as well. Or to hope that it doesn’t, we guess?

Fallout

No. Obviously Fallout Shelter doesn’t count. But we could do with a massive post-apocalyptic RPG with some shooty bits in it right about now. Shooters don’t always have to be about twitchy reflexes and all that jazz. So let us play Fallout on our phones. What are you so afraid of?
