UOB First Singapore Bank to Trial Microsoft 365 Copilot Generative AI Tool – Fintech Singapore

United Overseas Bank (UOB) initiated its trial of Microsoft 365 Copilot, marking it as the first Singapore bank to integrate this Generative Artificial Intelligence (Generative AI) tool.

Under the Microsoft 365 Copilot Early Access Program (EAP), starting in October, around 300 UOB employees from varied sectors like branches, customer service, and technology operations will engage with this AI tool to bolster operational productivity, accessibility, and collaboration.

Lawrence Goh, Chief Operating Officer and Head of Group Infrastructure Platform Services at UOB underscores the bank’s proactive approach towards embedding Generative AI into daily processes. He believes the tool has vast potential to enhance productivity and hopes to nurture staff creativity and innovation.

On the partnership, Lee Hui Li, Singapore Managing Director at Microsoft, expressed that aligning with UOB provides an opportunity to equip businesses with Generative AI tools, catering to evolving customer requirements and industry dynamics.

Launched in March 2023, Microsoft’s Copilot amalgamates expansive language models with user-specific business data, seamlessly interfacing with Microsoft 365 applications, amplifying productivity.

UOB employees participating in this trial will have access to Microsoft 365 Copilot for a year, with comprehensive support from a global Centre of Excellence and Microsoft’s Customer Success team. Additionally, dedicated workshops ensure smooth and effective adoption.

The bank’s staff can anticipate streamlined work procedures through this integration, from  summarising extensive emails to transforming raw data into insightful visuals.

The tool improves access to relevant data and strengthens collaboration across different functions. UOB also seeks to refine content quality, ensuring a consistent tone in the bank’s communications.
