YGG’s 8 New Play-to-Earn Investments: Genopets, DeHorizon, Thetan Arena, and More

Yield Guild Games has partnered with 8 new play-to-earn games so its members can begin to play with zero upfront costs. This brings the total partnerships of YGG to 18 games, including Axie Infinity and Splinterlands. 

How does YGG choose which games to invest and bring its players into? The 8 games, the guild said, were identified to have strong play-to-earn models. As Gabby Dizon, YGG co-founder, said before, the guild only invest in games where the non-fungible tokens (NFT) assets can generate yield. 

Community involvement is also a key factor, says Sarutobi Sasuke, Head of Partnerships at YGG. “The team reviews the gameplay and game economics to ensure that the games have a robust and fair game economy that rewards players adequately for the time and effort put in by them.”

Below are the new games that YGG partnered with. All of these games have NFTs and yield generating features as a core mechanic.

Influence

A space strategy MMO, players can build, mine, research, and fight through their spaceships and space installations. It will have a token — SWAY — that players can earn through gameplay.

• KJ-4497, the 46th largest asteroid in the game. 
• 30 smaller asteroids

Cyball

One half soccer and the other half cyberpunk, Cybloks are cyborg characters that players can collect, trade, mentor, and battle. Interestingly, CyBloks can also “mentor” junior Cyblocks.

• Part of the initial Genesis CyBlock NFT packs. This will allow YGG to send atleast 1,000 scholars into the game.

Thetan Arena

They say it’s like Brawl Stars but on the blockchain. You form a team with your friends and earn rewards when you win. The game has free-to-play mode and play-to-earn mode. The free-to-play mode still allows players to earn the token called Thetan Coin (THC), playing the play-to-earn mode has more token-earning opportunities and premium heroes.

KOGs SLAM!

It’s POG on the blockchain by RFOX Labs. This time, you slam the pogs on the Wax blockchain. Players can collect, play, and trade them. There are daily missions, ranked matches, and tournaments, and players can trade their winnings back to pesos via GCash!

MOBOX

A free-to-play and play-to-earn ecosystem of games on the Binance Smart Chain, the games under the “Mobox” platform, which include MOMO: Block Brawl, MOMO: Token Master, MOMO: Farmer, and Trade Action, allow players to yield farm, acquire NFTs, and earn cryptocurrencies.

DeHorizon

Players of the DeHorizon metaverse can join battles, mint NFT monsters, mine resources, tame creatures, and go on quests. There is a group-vs-group game (DeVerse), a weekly-based battle royale (DeTournament), a fantasy sports game where you ride dragons (interestingly titled “DeQuidditch), and much more.

Genopets

This game is incorporating “move-to-play” mechanics to incentivize physical activity. In Genopets, the NFTs can evolve and can be upgraded and customized. Players can expect a Pokemon-like battling and Tamagotchi-like game features. The player’s real-life movements can be converted into XP to progress in-game.
