The iconic video games series gets its own virtual arena courtesy of Virtex.

We first learned of Virtex Stadium back in 2021. The ambitious virtual event platform promises to immerse fans in their favorite live esports events live never before using custom 3D arenas powered by VR technology.

Earlier today, Virtex announced a brand new partnership with Skybox Technologies, a spectating and analysis platform for competitive video games, to bring Valve’s immensely-popular multiplayer first-person shooter series Counter-Strike to Virtuix Stadiums. This includes Counter-Strike: Global Offensive as well as the upcoming sequel/upgrade, Counter-Strike 2.

Later this year, certain users will be able to access Virtex Stadium using a VR headset or Windows PC and view select Counter-Strike events in the stands or directly from the battlefield where they can inspect every play from virtually any angle. Virtex has apparently been working with Skybox to integrate Counter-Strike maps, gameplay features, and map control options to offer the most flexible experience possible.

There’s even a lobby area complete with a lounge and main hall where users can chat it up with other esports fans, play games, and search for hidden interactions scattered throughout.

We are thrilled to be introducing a massive title like Counter-Strike to the Virtex Stadium and giving more fans the opportunity to enjoy top-level gameplay in a way that’s never been done before,” said Virtex co-founder Tim Mcguinness in an official release.

“As the third most-watched esport last year, CS:GO already has an enormous following and we’re excited to be working with Skybox to deliver a 360-degree spectating experience unique to every fan. As a die-hard esports fan, I can’t wait to announce more of the upcoming tournaments we are set to feature in the stadium.”

“The Virtex guys have done an outstanding job at building out the Virtex Stadium over the past year,” added Ethan Cooper, CEO of Skybox. “We are proud that via the Skybox & Virtex partnership fans can soon experience live Counter-Strike in a whole new way. It’s an exciting time for our respective companies and we are looking forward to continuing our partnership with additional game titles and new experiences.”

According to the company, there’s no word yet on an official release date for Virtex Stadium. Those interested can join the waitlist for a chance to participate in the closed beta. Virtex hopes to kick things off later this year with specific Counter-Strike events.

As for which VR platforms will be compatible with Virtex Stadium, the company has teased support for Oculus and SteamVR headsets. For more information visit virtexstadium.com. Virtex has also put together a killer trailer that does an excellent job of hyping the experience.
